When multiple drivers use your vehicles, you want to know who is driving and when. That’s where driver identification comes in. It helps with your administration and ensures your trip registration is compliant with the tax authorities. This can be done using an iButton key or an RFID card.

For trip logging in the Netherlands, it is legally required to record which driver made which trip, especially when multiple drivers use a vehicle. Driver identification is essential because additional tax liability is linked to the individual, not the vehicle. Proper trip registration with driver identification offers several additional benefits. It provides a clear overview of working hours per driver, and in the event of a violation, you can immediately address the right person. Additionally, driver identification allows you to analyze employee driving behavior and help them drive as safely, economically, and efficiently as possible.
How does driver identification work?
Log in with an iButton key or an RFID card
To know who drove which trip, you need to be able to identify the driver. There are two ways to do this: your drivers log in with our iButton (an ID tag, also called a 'droplet') or with their card that they already use, for example to gain access to your company premises (RFID: Radio Frequency Identification).

This is how the iButton works
The first option for driver identification is the iButton, also known as the tage or 'droplet.' This system works very simply: the driver starts the car and logs in with the iButton. That's it. Logging out at the end of the ride is not necessary, this happens completely automatically.

This is how RFID works
Do your employees already use access cards? We will link these to our driver identification system via an RFID receiver (MiReader). The driver simply logs in to the car with the card and you work with one system without having to purchase anything extra.
